Today, the California Business and Industrial Alliance (CABIA) ran a full-page ad in USA Today criticizing the latest misguided initiative from Governor Newsom’s Air Resources Board that will raise gas prices by as much as 65 cents per gallon next year.
The ad is a mock advertisement for “Gavin’s Gas Station,” where prices per gallon are “$2 higher than the other guys!” The ad goes on to argue that “with gas prices in California already $1.40 above the national average, commuters could pay up to $2 more at the pump” under Newsom’s initiative.
Tom Manzo, president and founder of CABIA, said this about the ad:
“Newsom’s unelected board of bureaucrats is out of control. Costs are already skyrocketing across California, and now our governor wants to saddle residents with even higher prices at the pump. Considering thousands of people flee California each year for more affordable pastures, our lawmakers should be figuring out ways to make living here less expensive. Where’s the common sense in Sacramento?”
